I shape clay into hemp rope, giving earth the appearance of fiber and allowing a soft, everyday object to become fixed through firing. The rope seems as though it could still bend and pull, yet it holds the hardness and fragility of ceramics.

Both hemp and clay share a humble connection to the land and have long been woven into human labor and daily life. By bringing them together, I explore the simplicity and essential character of clay: transformed by hands and fire, it takes on another form while retaining its quiet presence. Within the intertwined strands, I seek to preserve the elemental strength of the material and the poetry that ordinary things reveal through attentive looking.
