Blue Hour

2026.9

Dimension: 30 x 40 inch

Medium: Oil on canvas

Blue hour refers to the period between sunset and complete darkness, when the lingering glow of the day begins to fade.

This painting depicts a basket of roses my wife had cut during the blue hour. She told me that roses grow better and bloom more beautifully the more they are pruned. One moment, the flowers are beautiful on their branches; the next, even the fading blossoms are beautiful in the blue that follows the last light of sunset.

Again and again, they bloom, fade, and bloom once more—in memory.
